As the World Turns Always in Our Hearts

We're fans of As the World Turns that are sorry that the show has come to an end but we will keep it alive in our hearts with wonderful memories.

Many of the actors have started to move onto other projects. Our goal is to keep you updated on where you can see them and support them in their new ventures. We wish them all well as they go forward.

We say good night to Oakdale but definitely not goodbye.

Our New Mission

Sadly no new home was ever found for As the World Turns. However we will always treasure the wonderful memories in our hearts and keep the World Turning Forever.

Many of the actors we came to love have moved onto the next phase of their careers. So our next mission will be to keep you up to date on where they are now and what they are doing. Many have been busy already and we'll work to update you on that as well as keeping you up to date on where you can see them next!

We also look forward to discussing some of our favorite As the World Turns memories with you!

If you have any additional information we've missed or suggestions for the blog, please contact us.

Our Current Campaign Strategy

Please write!  We backed off for the holidays but we must intensify our efforts NOW!  They are still working on some options even if it is a long shot.  Please don't give up!  Keep writing!

So many ideas are floating around, and especially with the holidays we know time is at a premium, so we want to stay focused so we can have the most impact. It needs to be a concentrated effort.  So to help right now, please send postcards to the following:

Lifetime TV Network

Please send cards out on Mondays and Fridays.  It's important we keep sending them.  However if you can't send that often, please do as much as you can.  If you can only send one, that is still a help!  Also please spread the word and get more people helping with this.  It is essential we have a lot of participation. Please send the link for this information to anyone you think would be willing to help!

You can find postcards to download and print HERE.  If you have no way to print these, then please buy some postcards of your own and write a short message and mail them.  Please remember Lifetime will only accept postcards and not letters.

For those that are able to do more, please contact the Soap Media.  The goal with this is to get the word out about our campaign and to gain more support for it.  Some fans are not on the internet and the best way to reach them may be through the soap press spreading the word as to what we are doing.  P&G, TeleNext and Lifetime are the most important but if you can do something extra, please make it be contacting the soap magazines.

January 20 - 23 we will be sending bars of P&G brand bar soaps to P&G.  Please read the next post on the blog for more detaisl on that.  We need your help!

In January a group of fans are working together to mail small globes to Lifetime to encourage them to add As the World Turns to their lineup.  We will work to support them in this effort.  A date will be determined so we can all do this at once.  In the meantime though keep an eye out for small globes that can be sent.  Check dollar stores, craft stores, toy stores etc.  They have found some inexpensive globes that can be purchased online at Oriental Trading.  These are a terrific option but feel free to find other options too.  Any types of globes will get the point across!

Please check back often for updates!

Thanks in advance for your help and support.  We must all work together if we want As the World Turns to find a new home.

I would like to invite all of you to our S.O.S. rally in NYC on April 16th at 2pm in front of the CBS Studios. I am hoping the media pick up on this and we can get someone to pick up GL and ATWT.

Thanks for the info about the rally. I've made it a separate post too so hopefully more people will see the info. You're right unless it is a large turnout, it won't work. Good Luck!

I don't know why they are canceling ATWT - it is GREAT!!!! Since I work full time - I tape and watch all the CBS soaps and have for the last 20 years!!!! If they want to cancel something cancel Bold and the Beautiful. While I am happy with any option to keep them going - I would hope it would be one that everyone can watch - I don't have satellite and can't where I live. Please keep posting for ways to keep ATWT alive and on CBS!

Here is our press release about the rally:
04/06/2010

For Immediate Release.

Save Our Soaps News Conference

New York, NY. The group of Save Our Soaps- Guiding Light and As the World Turns is holding a rally on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. in front of the CBS Studios located at 524 West 57th Street (Between 10th and 11th Avenues) in New York City.

We will be available at 3 p.m. the day of the rally to answer all and any questions. Fans will be available for interviews also. Members of the group will be wearing red to show their support.

Losing these soaps affects their many fans. To lose these shows, the fans feel they are losing part of their family – someone that has been an important part of their lives for generations.

Soap fans are the among most dedicated fan groups that exist. As an example of their importance, the FBI visited our main administrator, Tami King, after a campaign against CBS.

The CBS studio received so much powder soap, which they thought was anthrax and the FBI was called in. Tami was personally visited by the FBI to ask her to stop the campaign.

Another aspect of the cancellation that isn't talked about very much is that more than 250 workers will lose their jobs when the show ends production. The Guiding Light crew has already lost their jobs. Having all these people out of work does affect the New York City and the state's economy.

There is only one soap opera left in New York City once ATWT stops production. Young actors and actresses like Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Julianne Moore and Meg Ryan, all of whom got their start on ATWT, will not have a place to learn their trade.
